Mention Los Cabos and you’ll probably hear the name Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal. It’s no surprise. This lavish property boasts the only private tunnel in all of Mexico.

It’s even hailed as one of the best points hotels in the world after joining Hilton and its points program. Plus, it’s built into a stunning cliffside overlooking the wonderful water.

Find out more about this exciting resort and see what’s in store for you during your stay.

Location

The Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal knows how to make a grand entrance. Teasing guests with a beautiful tunnel entrance before revealing striking ocean and cliffside views at the end.

Development is in progress in the area with high-end luxury resorts showing up left and right around the property.

To explore the nearby areas, guests staying at the resort can take a golf cart to the tunnel and from there walk 10 minutes to reach the marina. A famous Arch formation is also near here so you can stop by and check it out.

For touristy bars and restaurants, head across the marina toward Paraiso Mall. It’s 15 minutes on foot if you’re leaving from the resort. Like most Cabo resorts, the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos doesn’t have a swimmable beach because the currents are too strong.

However, there is a convenient swimmable beach at Playa de Empacadora – a 15-minute jaunt from the hotel. But if you prefer to drive, Medano Beach is only 10 minutes via car.

To reach the resort, you can rent a car or take a cab from the Los Cabos International Airport (SJD). It’ll take about 30 to 45 minutes. However, it’s also possible to arrange pickup with the hotel for a fee.

Your biggest problem when staying at the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal is choosing the right room. With 115 rooms divided into 5 categories, you’ll have countless options to choose from.

The great thing is regardless of which room you choose, you can expect amazing creature comfort. Each room has a private plunge pool, a terrace, and a balcony. Amenities like a fruit plate, free Clase Azul tequila in a gorgeous hand-drawn blue and white glass, along with free afternoon refreshments are just a few of the perks.

In addition, you’ll find a big king bed, a luxurious bathroom filled to the brim with additional amenities, and in-room touches like a Nespresso machine, gas fireplace, and stocked minibar.

The higher you go in the room category, the more extras you can expect. Let’s dissect each category starting with the standard room – the Ocean View Deluxe Terrace Room with Plunge Pool.

Lounge on a king bed with 180-degree sea and mountain views. There’s a binocular for whale watching, a Bluetooth sound system, a flat-screen TV, custom furniture, local artwork, a flashy rainforest shower, a private tub, and a lighted makeup mirror.

Starter rooms present 865 square feet of space with shiny limestone flooring and a beautiful leather headboard with pillowtop mattresses.

Next up on the categories list are the Suites. These rooms start at 1,410 square feet and go up to 1,600 square feet. Larger and more spacious, you can enjoy 2 to 3 private balconies with a fire pit or hammock and a personal concierge. Take your pick from the Estrella Suite, the Dos Mares Jr. Suite, or the One Bedroom Ocean View Suite.

Opt for a Beach room and you’ll get access to the beautiful beach waters. You not only get a master bedroom but over 2,500 to 4,000 square feet of space. The most lavish of these rooms is the Presidential Beachfront Suite where you get a butler, 2 big master king bedrooms and a single double queen room, dedicated beach access, a living room, and a private infinity swimming pool, among others.

Need something bigger and more rooms? Try the Casitas, Villas, or Private Residences.

The casitas are available in 2 or 3-bedroom versions starting at 2,395 square feet and 3,252 square feet. Roll around in the king master ensuite bedroom and a second ensuite bedroom with queen beds. On the upper floor is another bedroom with two queen beds. There’s a full kitchen, private butler Viking appliances, custom furniture, and a private infinity pool to start with.

Villas are next in line and are grander than casitas. And finally, private homes are best for large groups or if you want a place you can truly call home for the time being.

Amenities

The Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal pampers guests by offering an array of amenities to keep guests so busy and entertained they won’t even dream of leaving the resort.

For starters, there’s the beach. While it’s not swimmable, it makes up for it with a picturesque shoreline and powdery white sands. The tunnel entrance is a favorite photo spot for weddings too.

Right by the entrance is a tennis court where you can schedule a tennis game. The resort provides tennis balls and rackets you can use, including a fully-stocked fridge of drinks to keep you refreshed after a great game.

Right by the reception is a curvy infinity pool. Striking loungers line the shallow steps to the pool while umbrellas are strategically placed to let you nap and relax under the shade.

Walk to the beach club family pool and you’ll find it livelier than the main pool with kids occasionally jumping into the waters. Nearby is a jacuzzi tub popular with adults.

If you want to soothe aching muscles or need to get rid of some stresses in life, head to the Luna y Mar spa. Translated as the Moon and Sea spa, you can indulge in various treatments including traditional Mexican healing remedies.

The spa has a swimming pool and a host of treatment rooms. Like all of the Waldorf, the prices here are steep with facials starting at $250 for a 50-minute treatment. However, if you have the budget then do indulge. You won’t regret it!

Need a gym fix? The Waldorf Astoria fitness centers have several rooms right by the main office entrance. Inside, there are TechnoGym cardio and weight machines including a private studio for yoga.

Close to the gym is a business center if you need to get some work done and a library. The AlmArte boutique is at the side of the reception as well. Here, you’ll find local crafts if you want to do a bit of shopping. But, it’s recommended you head to San Jose del Cabo if you want more options and better prices.

Food and Dining

Guests often travel back to Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos not just for its amenities but primarily because they carry the best restaurants in the Cabo region.

Starting your gastronomy experience at the resort is Don Manuel’s. This all-around dining area is by the swimming pool and provides both indoor and outdoor seating.

Hilton Honors Diamond members receive complimentary breakfast at a value of $32 when dining here. Breakfast is served between 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a selection of fruits, cereals, pastries, juices, and drinks. You can indulge in a Mexican breakfast for an extra $10 per meal.

Don Manuel’s also has a bar area where you can listen to live music and order cocktails.

Crudo Bar, meanwhile, lets you dine and drink without even getting out of the swimming pool. You can also eat in the dry area where they offer classics like quesadillas, guacamole and chips, various salads, and tacos. Choose from different types of ceviches as well as sushi-style rolls while here.

On the eastern portion of the resort is the Beach Club. Also popular during lunch hours, they serve similar items as Crudo Bar. However, if you don’t feel like getting out of the pool, you can have your meal delivered to your lounger.

Probably the most famous restaurant at the resort (and most of Cabo) is El Farallon. Tucked away in the western part of the property, you’ll need to pass by a special walkway to get there. A hostess will be waiting for you and if there’s a line, you’ll be led to the cocktail bar area until a table opens up or seated immediately if there is availability.

El Farallon presents grand cliffside views, making for a wonderful and romantic dining experience when you drop by at night or sunset.

Meals are served differently here. There’s a blackboard sporting the catch of the day and you just need to choose the main dish and two side courses – the staff will take care of the rest. And as expected, the meals here are pricey but it’s one of the most special places to dine at the resort. It’s recommended you try it at least once.

Other places to grab drinks or light bites include the Agave Study at Peacock Alley where they offer various agave-based spirits like tequila as well as light bites. Coffee lovers will appreciate the Neutral Coffee Lab where they can get freshly brewed espresso alongside fresh pastries.

The staff at the various amenities like the pool are more than willing to help with any request. They’ll take care of setting up your loungers, getting umbrellas adjusted, and handing you ice as well as water to make sure you’re comfortable.

It’s the epitome of being treated like a VIP guest at every turn.

Situated near one of Los Cabos’ swimmable beaches, the Hilton Los Cabos Golf & Beach Resort is the perfect blend of fun and classy in one resort.

Location

The resort is right in the middle of the quiet, artsy town of San Jose del Cabo and the livelier, party town of Cabo San Lucas. It means you’re in the perfect spot to hit up both towns during your vacation. If you take a car or rental, San Jose del Cabo is a 15-minute drive while Cabo San Lucas will take 20 minutes to reach.

When coming from the airport, budget at least 30 minutes to get to and from the resort. You can rent a car, take a cab or arrange for a private shuttle if you like.

It’s worth noting there’s nothing within walking distance of the resort. The golf course, Cabo Real Golf Course, is across the street in front of a busy highway. You’ll still need to take a short car ride to reach it since there’s no way to reach it on foot or via a golf cart.
